A temperature-controlled storage and handling facility serving the fisheries trade through Berbera port.
The ministry is seeking an operator for a cold chain facility adjacent to the Berbera port fisheries terminal.
The project covers refrigerated storage, blast freezing, grading and packing lines, and a small fleet of refrigerated vehicles for inland distribution. Catch volumes landing at Berbera have grown steadily, and the absence of reliable cold storage is the single largest source of post-harvest loss in the sector.
Land is available on a long lease within the port perimeter. Power and water connections are in place. The ministry will facilitate the permits required for construction and operation.
